Gratitude

I have so much to be grateful for.

My wife and I welcomed our son into the world just last week.

We are fortunate that both mom & baby are healthy.

It is true what they say about seeing your child for the first time. It was like a deep vault of emotion and love was unlocked when I heard his cries as he was passed into his mother’s loving arms.

In 2020 health care workers were widely recognized as hero’s. I understood the concept, but being in good health I didn’t get to see them in action first hand. Over the past week between the staff at St. Joseph’s hospital, the pediatrician we’ve worked with, and the pediatric dentist who cut our son’s tongue tie I have come to see their work first hand. I am blown away by the competence and care of the individuals we worked with. Saying goodbye to our nurse from the hospital almost brought me to tears. She was the guardian angel for my wife and son. They really are hero’s.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for my young family. For the roof over our head. For the food on the table.

The little things that we really are fortunate to have.

I am also grateful for all the competent and caring people out there who keep our world moving:

The nurses, truck drivers, plumbers, roofers, electricians, builders, firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement, and so many more.

I hope to do my part to live up to all that I have to be grateful for, and to be the best example for my son that I can be.

Now back to enjoying some quiet time together.

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours.
