Q2 2025 Reading List 📚👶

This quarter, my wife, son, and I welcomed a baby girl into our family.

The details are more personal than I’ll share in a reading list post.

Let’s just say: life is busier and richer than ever. Being a dad is the best.

Without my Kindle and Audible, I don’t think I’d find time to read.

(Kindle is perfect when you’re holding a snoozing baby or reading in the dark. Audible is great during commutes. Switching between the two feels like magic.)

Friends on both the political right and left have boycotted Amazon for different reasons. To that, I say: I support you boycotting! But the product is too useful for me to walk away…

Anyway, here’s what I read over the last three months:

Non-Fiction 🧠📖

The Beginning of Infinity by David Deutsch 🌌✨

This might be the most important book I’ve ever read.

The chapters titled The Spark, Optimism, and Unsustainable stayed with me for days. The book gave me real hope—for the future, for humanity, and for “the West” in particular. I haven’t found that anywhere else.

If you only read one book from this list, make it this one.

Reframe Your Brain by Scott Adams 🔄🧠

This book helps you think more effectively by reframing your thoughts.

One example he gives for when you’re waiting in line:

• Usual Frame: I have nothing to do. I’m just standing here.

• Reframe: Perfect time to practice proper breathing and posture.

Fitness Reads 🏋️‍♂️💪

🛠️🥵I read Kettlebell AXE and Hardstyle Abs by Pavel and followed the program for the past three months. Short, sweet, and effective—both made me stronger.

✊👐I also went down a grip strength rabbit hole and read Mastery of Hand Strength by John Brookfield. Not as good as the others, but it still offered a few useful ideas.

Fiction 🎬📘

True Believer by Jack Carr 🎯🔫

A blast. His stories are what I’d call “the male rom-com”: a masculine character doing manly things. Easy to read and a ton of fun.

The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin🪐👽

Hard sci-fi. It was adapted into a Netflix series (which I haven’t watched but heard is just okay). The book, however, is fantastic. Want to read about aliens? This one is for you.
