Kevinโ€™s Q3 2024 Reading List ๐Ÿ“š

Journal, kindle, cup of coffee

Here are the 6 books I read this quarter.

  • Endurance by Alfred Lansing was my favorite book this quarter. An unbelievable tale of adventure and survival in Antarctica circa 1915. This book is leadership in action. I loved it so much I adapted the story into this kids book so I could read it to my son (only on kindle for now).
  • Ben Franklin’s Autobiography is my most re-read non-fiction book. I picked it up again around July 4th. What I love about his story is his 3-act career: printer, scientist, and statesman. Underscoring that the race is long (if we’re lucky), and it is OK to focus on one thing at a time and then move onto your next curiosity.
  • The Founders by Jimmy Soni is about the founding story of PayPal. All the main characters play a key role in today’s business & politics, so I wanted to learn more about their start.
  • Surely You Must Be Joking Mr. Feynman falls under the category of “my favorite thinkers’ favorite thinkers”…meaning, people I look up to admire this guy (Taleb, Munger, Musashi & Franklin fall into this category too). Feynman was a genius physicist (recruited to work on the atom bomb his senior year) who was also a prankster. Read this to experience a genius mind that is constantly at play.
  • The 2 Hour Cocktail Party by Nick Gray taught me how to host better events.
  • Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It by Kamal Ravikant is short, sweet, and left me feeling good about myself. Highly actionable.

Send me a book you recommend to close out the year (motivated@kevinconnelly.blog) .

P.S.

If you have a Kindle, check out the short kids book I made Endurance & Hope. If you love it, leave a 5 star review! If you don’t, send a copy to your worst enemy.
