Two Thought Tuesday: 2/13/24

Hey Friends,

I’m going to try something new for the next few months. I’m prioritizing other projects at the moment but still want to keep my weekly posting here to continue the habit.

We’ll call it Two Thought Tuesday (for now 😉).

This will be shorter than my usual ~400 word blog post; sharing 2 useful ideas I’ve come across each week.

Let’s dive in.

Two Thoughts:

  1. You Don’t Need More How-To Advice — You Need a Beautiful and Painful Reckoning is a new blog post from Tim Ferriss about taking action. This story aligns with my post about how one conversation in a sweaty gym in NJ changed my physique. Here are my two favorite sentences from Tim’s post:
    • “If you are very overweight, very weak, very inflexible, or very anything negative, tracking even a mediocre variable will help you develop awareness that leads to better behavioral changes.”
    • For a long time, I’ve known that the key to getting started down the path of being remarkable in anything is to simply act with the intention of being remarkable.
  2. Propaganda is omnipresent. Read enough history and you begin to find out. (The 1200s Mongols used the literacy rates of their enemies to their (enemies) disadvantage. For recent examples you can read The Grey Lady Winked for all the times the NYT misled the public). I don’t know what the solution is. Probably some combination of an information diet & reading multiple perspectives on things you care about to triangulate an approximate truth.

That’s it for this week!
