Inflection points create new opportunity.

This applies to macro & micro scales.

For instance, inflection points can take the form of new technology, new laws, or demographic shifts.

On the macro scale, for example, two inflection points we are living through are the widescale adoption of AI and the retirement of baby boomers. There are opportunities around these trends that will make many people very rich.

Since I focus more on intrapreneurship, let’s talk about inflection points on the micro scale. An example of an inflection point on the micro scale could be a new software your company is using or a new leader hired into your organization.

I have seen this a number of times now. When a new tool is deployed, a few motivated individuals often take the initiative to master it. They then gain massive career capital for their new mastery and are rewarded with a new job or – at least – job security. The same applies to new hires; such changes present opportunities to forge relationships and build trust.

On the micro scale, you might not ‘strike it rich’ as you potentially could on the macro scale. However, career capital can compound into a powerful force in the long run.
